Free 6x5 Template -- create your own ebook in a few hours with this fill-in-the-blanks structure

Super quick start guide:

Download the attached Word document, and replace the placeholder text with your own. Then save it as a PDF, upload it to Scribd, email it, blog it, make a shout however you can.

Fairly quick start guide:

This template provides you with a quick way to create a 6x5 ebook to introduce your specialist topic. If you have a nagging desire to write an ebook about something, this template could turn that desire into reality in a matter of hours.

I did this with the 6x5 Posterous ebook. You might want to browse through that to get a feel for how 6x5 works.

The 6x5 format uses 6 sections, with 5 subsections in each. In this template you'll find space for

  • 5 things to know
  • 5 things to try
  • 5 things to read
  • 5 pages to bookmark
  • 5 people to follow on Twitter
  • 5 blogs to subscribe to
The idea is you give readers 5 points of essential knowledge about the topic and 5 things they can do straight away to get a grip on the topic and make practical progress. The remainder then provides readers with access to further reading and resources, so that they can explore further at their own pace.

There's also a section at the end "5 things about the author" where you can brag about yourself.

It's formatted to be readable on screen with landscape layout and bright colors.

This really is the quickest way to create an ebook of your own. Download the attached document (there's a "download" link below the fancy Flash viewer), browse through it, fill it in for your chosen topic, then share the results.
